Advice Casework Supervisor – Vacancy

Salary: £26,000-£26,750 per annum (full-time)

Working Hours: 30-37 hours per week (negotiable)

Contract: Fixed term to 31st December 2024, expected extension to March 2026

Location: Oldbury town centre, with some Sandwell wide travel

This is an exciting new opportunity to support and develop our Welfare Advice programmes, which provide advice and referral services to residents across Sandwell. 

The Casework Supervisor will work alongside our Programmes Manager and Cost of Living Co-ordinator, to ensure our Advice programmes are delivered to a consistent and high quality standard.

Key areas of work:

  • Casework support and supervision for individual Advisers in the areas of welfare benefits, debt referral, budgeting and other areas of advice.
  • Quality standards monitoring and impact reporting, including internal casework audit
  • Ensure delivery of the advice standards set out in our service level agreements with Sandwell Council and in line with the Sandwell Advice Providers Network.
  • Deliver outreach advice sessions for the Cost of Living programme in the event of an Adviser’s unplanned absence to ensure continuity of service.
  • Deputise in the absence of the COLT Co-ordinator, as directed by the Programmes Manager, to ensure co-ordination and smooth delivery of the outreach advice service.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic person, who is committed to providing high quality services and who:

  • has up to date knowledge of and a proven track record as an Adviser in Welfare Benefits, and in at least two of the following: budgeting, employment support and housing
  • has experience in casework supervision or who is ready to make this step
  • has excellent verbal communication skills
  • able to provide constructive feedback to frontline staff working under pressure
  • has a good understanding of communities who face disadvantage and exclusion
  • can manage a busy workload on a day-to-day basis
  • wants to contribute to a positive working environment and a teamwork approach
  • is committed to work in ways that promote equality and inclusion and recognise the diversity of the Sandwell population and of our service users
  • has experience of using a case management database, e.g., Advice Pro
  • can show initiative and has a solution-focused self-motivation
  • is comfortable working as part of a busy team.
